Congratulations Bridging Girl Scouts!
Girl Scouts, you have completed another level of Girl Scouting and it's time for you to celebrate in style! This is your chance to participate in a once-in-a-lifetime bridging ceremony during the GSNorCal's celebration of 100 years of Girl Scouting! You can bridge with Girl Scouts from one century into the next, and from one level into the next! This is the largest, most amazing event we have ever hosted plus you get to cross one of the most famous bridges in the world, the Golden Gate Bridge, all in the same weekend!!!
For 2012 ONLY, we are taking Golden Gate Bridging on the road and combining it with One Hundred, Fun Hundred – the largest event GS NorCal has hosted yet! We are also doing something else that has never been done before; we are opening Golden Gate Bridging to ALL bridging Girl Scouts! Not only that, but you can even bring the whole family to the party! That’s right, for one year only, GGB is open to all age levels with no girl/adult ratio restrictions and it's part of the largest party we have hosted yet!! WOW!! Can it get any better? Well, yes it can, especially when you see the growing list of activities happening at OHFH. If you have heard wonderful things about GGB, just wait until you see OHFH and GGB together! This will be a magical weekend that will stay in the hearts of our participants forever! We hope you will join us for this once in a lifetime experience!
How does this magical weekend work?
First, your group decides if they want to stay in San Francisco as you normally would for GGB, at the fairgrounds (we have inexpensive camping for 4,000 people at OHFH), or at hotels near the Alameda County Fairgrounds in Pleasanton, CA.
- Many out of council groups are going to stay in San Francisco near Fisherman’s Wharf/Pier 39 to make sightseeing easier during the weekend.
- For those of you who want to stay near the Alameda County Fairgrounds in Plesanton, please visit click here to view the OHFH accommodations page.
- You can also stay with Hostelling International in SF for the weekend. Please call Nannette at (415) 863-1444.
Friday, May 4, 2012 - Go Sightseeing with your group!
- Spend the day and evening touring SF! Visit Fisherman’s Wharf, Pier 39, Alcatraz, the Aquarium, etc. There is so much to see and do in SF.
Saturday, May 5, 2012 - One Hundred Fun Hundred
- Hop on BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) and take it to Pleasanton. We have shuttles (at no charge) that will take your group from the Pleasanton/Dublin BART station to the Fairgrounds.
- Then celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Girl Scouts at the largest centennial celebration on the west coast, and participate in special activities such as,
- Bridging over a giant replica of the Golden Gate Bridge with special bridging ceremonies for each age level during the day,
- Special awards ceremonies for Bronze, Silver, and Gold Awards,
- Participate in zip lining, rock climbing, gigantic GS history museum, animal world, amazing entertainment, and visit endless booths with activities, games or crafts, all ending with a fabulous grand finale and fireworks show!
- You will get a chance to trade S.W.A.P.S. throughout the day at OHFH with Girl Scouts from across the country!
- To find out more about what is happening at OHFH, please click here. We update our web site regularly as we add exciting new activities to the event.
Sunday, May 6 – Walk across the actual Golden Gate Bridge!
- Travel with your group to the Golden Gate Bridge in SF and walk across it with thousands of your new friends from Saturday!
- It is the responsibility of each group to get to and from the Golden Gate Bridge.
- There will NO any activities at the bridge or Crissy Field on Sunday – The party for everyone is on Saturday at Pleasanton because this party is way too big to host in the Presidio.
